The film marks the actor's return to the big screen after KGF: Chapter 2 (2022) and is arguably among the most hyped Indian films of the year. Reportedly one of the country’s most expensive productions, Toxic boasts a star-studded cast, including Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Tara Sutaria and Huma Qureshi. Mounted on a reported budget of Rs 500 crore, the gangster drama arrives in theatres 503 days after its initially announced release date of April 10, 2025. Toxic faced several production delays, forcing the makers to postpone the release multiple times before finally locking August 26 as its theatrical date. The film is jointly backed by Venkat K Narayana and Yash under the banners of KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations. Rajeev Ravi has handled the cinematography, while Ravi Basrur, Vishal Mishra and Tanishk Bagchi have composed the music.
