The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), however, will skip the protest, saying it is fighting its own battle against the alleged irregularities. The march from Parliament to the Election Commission headquarters is scheduled for 10.30 am. Congress leader KC Venugopal said the Opposition wanted to hold a peaceful protest and had urged the police not to stop the march. The INDIA bloc announced the march on September 30, following a meeting attended by 19 Opposition parties. The leaders had also said they would meet the President to raise their concerns. The protest comes amid a political row over the SIR process and allegations of unauthorised changes to voter enrolment forms. An Indian Express report last month claimed that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had objected at least 14 times over 10 months to SIR-related orders and directions, saying they had been issued without their knowledge or recommendation. The controversy has fuelled demands for Gyanesh Kumar's resignation, with protests reported across the country. The Election Commission has rejected suggestions of a split within the three-member panel, maintaining that decisions on the SIR were taken unanimously.
