Katie O'Flynn as Patricia, a never-before-seen type of final girl! Stephen Root as the town kook who's actually right!It is extremely rare for a show (or a movie) to be able to balance comedy and horror without detracting from each other, yet Widow's Bay is hilarious and terrifying in perfectly equal measures.Here's hoping I get to pull out Patricia's dance moves when Widow's Bay is named Best Comedy.Tue 15 Sep 2026 at 8:52amTue 15 Sep 2026 at 8:52amWidow's Bay v Hacks: Enter the case for comediansThere's one very close competition this year, and that's the showdown for best comedy.Hacks — for its final season — is up for 24 total noms, while newcomer Widow's Bay has taken out 19 nods.Enter my case for Hacks (Velvet will be coming to you later with her defence for Widow's Bay).In its swan song, Hacks once again made us laugh, cry and re-examine the TV industry itself.With two incomparable leads (I refuse to accept Hannah Einbinder's supporting status), the show deserves a last hurrah for touching upon the depth of female friendship — and the frustrations many women in comedy still face.Sure, while its last season was perhaps not its best, it doesn't detract from a near-perfect run that has brought us the likes of Einbinder, Meg Stalter and Robbie Hoffman.All while reintroducing Jean Smart to the small screen.And if Emmy voters don't agree?
