Auckland FC and Wellington Phoenix have fought out a combative 0-all draw in their A-League derby at a sodden Mount Smart Stadium. The result means the Phoenix are still unbeaten in the competition, while Auckland have maintained their unbeaten record against the Phoenix.Auckland had won their previous six encounters, but Wellington went into this match as the form team of the competition while Auckland languished in mid-table.It was a crazy night for football, with the start of the match was delayed for an hour because of the danger posed by lightning strikes. The players still had to counter a wet pitch, particularly in the first half.Wellington dominated first quarter of the match before Auckland worked their way into the match.Kazuki Nagasawa had the best opportunity for the Phoenix, when he got inside of Hiroki Sakai inside the box, and let fly with a shot that was just wide of the left post. The intensity ramped up in the second half, and both sides had their opportunities with Auckland striker Sam Cosgrove going close three times, and Logan Rogerson just missing out during stoppage time.Wellington too went close a few times, with Alex Rufer denied late in the match.Rufer also got a yellow card as tempers flared late in the match, with Corban Piper also getting one for Auckland.Phoenix goalkeeper Henry Gray pulled off a number of great saves for his side.See how the action unfolded with our blog below:Embedded content removed for printing
