At one property, located about 70 to 80 metres from the collapse site, the building had only one narrow entry and exit, measuring around two feet wide. The passage was secured with a steel gate, while a web of unattended electrical wires was seen hanging outside. Another Hostel Daze property, around 100 metres from the site, was housed in a five-storey building. Electricity meters had been installed outside, with loose wires visible near the exit. Hostel Daze operates several properties in the area. Local regulations reportedly permit buildings of up to three floors, but several PG accommodations have four or five storeys and charge students high rents.
