Live-Action Ezra Bridger Star Wars Spinoff Series Potential Addressed By Ahsoka Actor

Published Jul 28, 2026, 12:42 PM EDT Eman Esfandi, one of the stars of Ahsoka, just opened up about the possibility of starring in a live-action Ezra Bridger series in the future. Esfandi appeared in movies like Red 11, King Richard and The Inspection, and then landed the role of Ezra in Ahsoka, which debuted on Disney+ in 2023 as a spinoff of The Mandalorian. He can next be seen in the highly anticipated Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Image via Disney Aside from Spider-Man, the actor is also returning for Ahsoka season 2, which began filming in 2025. In an interview with ScreenRant's Tatiana Hullender on the Spider-Man: Brand New Day red carpet, Esfandi addressed the potential of returning to the world of Star Wars in his own series. When asked about the speculation, he admitted that anytime creator Dave Filoni asks him to reprise Ezra, "I would more than likely be 150% down." Whether that comes via a continuation of Ahsoka or his own spinoff, or even if his time as the fan-favorite character doesn't continue, Esfandi is just "so honored to be a part of that legacy and so happy to be working with someone who cares to play." "Anything Dave asks of me playing Ezra, I would more than likely be 150% down. So whether there’s a spinoff or whatever the story continues as, or even if that’s all [there is], I am so honored to be a part of that legacy and so happy to be working with someone who cares to play." The character of Ezra first appeared in Star Wars Rebels, a four-season animated series about the crew of the starship Ghost who take part in secret missions to try to take down the Galactic Empire. Kanan Jarrus takes Ezra under his wing as the teenager's mentor while the latter trains to become a Jedi. Taylor Gray voiced Ezra on Star Wars Rebels and the web series Star Wars Forces of Destiny. The character has also been featured in the Star Wars novel Ezra's Gamble, multiple video games and the miniseries Lego Star Wars: Droid Tales (with Adrian Petriw voicing him). Then Ezra got the live-action treatment via Disney+'s Ahsoka, which also saw the titular character Ahsoka Tano move from the animated world into live-action. Rosario Dawson first took on the role in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett after Ariana Greenblatt voiced her in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels and Tales of the Jedi. Ahsoka season 1 received positive reviews from critics and an 85% score on Rotten Tomatoes. During awards season, the series earned several nominations at the Emmys (and won for Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes), SAG Awards, People's Choice Awards and Saturn Awards (Dawson won Best Actress in a Television Series), among others. Disney officially greenlit Ahsoka season 2 in early 2024, and production got underway in April 2025. Aside from Dawson and Esfandi, the cast of the upcoming season will also include Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ivanna Sakhno, Lars Mikkelsen, Rory McCann, Jeryl Prescott Gallien, Jane Edwina Seymour and Hayden Christensen (reprising Anakin Skywalker). The eight-episode second season of Ahsoka doesn't have a premiere date yet, but the Star Wars series is expected to return in early 2027. Release Date August 22, 2023 Network Disney+ Showrunner Dave Filoni Ahsoka follows the journey of former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy. Released in 2023, this series takes place within the Star Wars universe and features Ahsoka navigating through a complex political and cosmic landscape.
