Lionesses hero Ella Toone steps in to save club from extinction and announces second job alongside Man Utd

MANCHESTER UNITED and England Women hero Ella Toone has saved a historic football club from extinction after starting a surprise new career. Toone, 26, stepped in to save Chorley Women from folding following an agreement to work alongside the club’s leadership structure through her ET7 Academy and her creative agency Amicizia Studios. Credit: Getty Founded in 1983, Chorley is one of England‘s oldest independent women’s football teams. And last year they became the only club in the top six tiers to be classed as a Community Interest Company by guarantee, meaning they operate as a regulated, non-profit social enterprise rather than a traditional private business. But with Toone’s help, the fourth-tier have survived and will now enter a new era with this first-of-its-kind partnership that will see the attacker serve as a creative and strategic advisor. Chorley is located 30 miles from where Toone grew up in Tyldesley. Toone said of the announcement: “This isn’t about making headlines. “It’s about creating opportunities, building something a little different and helping grow the women’s game in communities that deserve investment and belief. “Football has given me everything, and I want to help create more opportunities for young girls to dream bigger. Meanwhile, ET7 will support the club’s wide community strategy and roots by creating more opportunities for young girls to play the beautiful game. Toone also watched the England men’s team at the World Cup in the United States before turning up in the Royal Box at Wimbledon and as a spectator at the Formula One British Grand Prix.
