Linux gaming gets another boost as Proton adds support for 16 niche games

Seven games have been added to Proton Experimental (you can opt-in on a per-game via Properties > Compatibility) Proton keeps improving Steam Deck/SteamOS compatibility. Like clockwork, Valve has dropped the latest stable version of Proton 11.0-2 to all users. The update brings official support for nine new games with the latest stable version of Proton, and seven on Proton Experimental (via PC Guide). Along with support for new games, the latest version of Proton also includes dozens of fixes for notable titles, including Marvel Rivals, Diablo IV, Hitman World of Assassination, Forza 6, and more. IL-2 Series The Heroic Legend of America: Second Revolutionary War If you're interested in trying out Proton Experimental, you can actually opt in on a per-game basis. I did this years ago when the Steam Deck first came out, and I wanted to play Elden Ring on it. To do this, find the game on your SteamOS device > navigate to Properties > Compatibility > select Force The Use of Specific Steam Play Compatibility Tool > and pick Proton Experimental. You can also enable Proton Experimental at the system-wide level in System Settings after enabling Developer Mode.
