LINDSAY Clancy’s lawyer has asked Donald Trump to intervene in the killer mom’s case after Friday’s bombshell mistrial. In his first TV interview since the six-week trial ended in deadlock, Kevin Reddington insisted Clancy is not evil. He said: “I’d like to say that perhaps Donald Trump, who felt compelled to speak out about this case, may very well… Mr. President, I would hope that you would consider this young lady, the type of person she is, what she has been through, and consider a pardon.” Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! The Massachusetts mom of three will now look ahead to September 29, when her next legal steps will be discussed following a mistrial ruling in her bombshell murder case last Friday. Clancy, 36, admitted to strangling her three young children to death in January 2023. Her defense team, however, argued that she should be found not guilty by reason of insanity, asserting over six dramatic weeks that she was experiencing postpartum psychosis at the time of the killings of Cora, five, Dawson, three, and eight-month-old Callan. Minutes after the mistrial on Friday President Trump – who had not spoken much on the case that has gripped the nation over the last six weeks – waded into the debate. Yet he warned there’ll be a “price to pay” when questioned about the mistrial in the Oval Office just minutes after it was declared. “I assume there’s going to be another trial. It’s a terrible situation,” he told reporters. Most read in The Sun “Look, she did a horrible, horrible thing. Can’t be worse. “But you’ll find out what the price to pay is. There’ll be a price. It’s going to be a mental institution or jail or something. But I guess they’re going to go through another trial. It’s too bad.” Clancy, who had been suffering mentally and was reportedly on 13 separate medications, was found outside her Duxbury, Massachusetts, home after throwing herself out of a window in a failed suicide attempt following the killings. Reddington shut down critics who say Clancy’s case is “pure evil.” “Oh please, it’s not evil. These people don’t understand. They don’t know what she went through. They didn’t see her text messages, they didn’t see her journal, they didn’t see the notes that she wrote. “They didn’t see the text she sent her mother in October, saying, ‘Mommy can you please come here. I am sick, something’s wrong.’ And it was a result of the medications. “They don’t know about the number of times she reached out, she went to the Women and Infants [hospital], she went to the suicide hotlines, she reached out to everybody and anybody that would listen to her and kept saying ‘I am not good, I am not well,’ and it was ignored.” She has since been remanded to Tewksbury State Hospital, where she returned following the latest court proceedings and is expected to remain for the foreseeable future. The heartbreakingly brutal case has been widely dubbed “America’s saddest trial” – but experts say the worldwide attention has also shone a fresh spotlight on the devastating issue of postpartum psychosis. Clancy told investigators that, after the killings, she heard a male voice commanding her to kill the children and herself.
