A LINDSAY Clancy-obsessed mom accused of murdering her 2-year-old son believed she had already killed her other children and planned to poison her husband, according to prosecutors. Corie Walsh was acting erratically when a neighbor located her in a bathtub in her home and allegedly made concerning comments to authorities following her arrest on September 1. Robert Kerr, one of Walsh’s defense lawyers, argued she was suffering a psychotic break when she allegedly killed her son Barrett and attempted self-harm in her family’s home in Frankfort, Illinois, about 35 miles southwest of Chicago. Will County prosecutors revealed in court on Tuesday that Walsh, 40, allegedly told authorities she planned to poison her husband, who was not home at the time of the incident, with a drink. Prosecutors said Walsh allegedly gave concerning statements that she “believed she had killed her other children” as well. The disturbing scene was uncovered by Walsh’s two other children, who had returned home from school to find their brother’s body hanging from a rafter in the basement. The terrified children sought help from a neighbor, who located little Barrett and attempted CPR; however, the boy was declared dead at a hospital. The same neighbor found Walsh in an upstairs bathroom, fully clothed in a tub filled with bloody water, giggling, and her eyes dilated, prosecutors said. Most read in The Sun Walsh’s friends told authorities she had recently become “very interested” in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial, which ended in a mistrial on Friday. Clancy was on trial for fatally strangling her three children in the basement of her Duxbury home in Massachusetts before jumping out of a second-story window in a failed suicide attempt. Kevin Reddington, Clancy’s attorney, said she was suffering from a rare condition called postpartum psychosis and insisted she was overly medicated and not in the right mindset when she killed her children, 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan. Walsh’s friends described her recent text messages as “confusing” and “out of character.” The friend group added that Walsh bizarrely believed that Clancy’s husband was responsible for murdering the children. Despite the argument, a judge ordered Walsh to remain detained, saying she posed a risk to her remaining children and husband. Neither Walsh’s husband nor her mother attended Tuesday’s court hearing. Instead, the loved ones held a funeral for their son Barrett, who was affectionately called “Bear.” However, Walsh’s attorneys said her family has “unwavering love and support” for her. Walsh is due back in court on September 24.
