Lindsay Clancy fundraiser tops $1.1MILLION hours after bombshell mistrial declared with eyewatering level of donations

FERVANT supporters of killer mom Lindsay Clancy have flooded her family with thousands of dollars in donations just hours after a mistrial was declared. The GoFundMe had topped $1.1million as of Saturday morning, with its target figure moved up to an eyewatering $3million, as comments begged the 36-year-old former nurse not to take a plea deal before a second trial. The couple relocated from Connecticut to be closer to Clancy, who is being held in a psych ward in Tewksbury Hospital, Massachusetts, living in hotels and rentals for over three years. It is now expected they will be forced to stay longer, with no decision made on whether Clancy will be tried again or when. “More than three years later, her case is now being tried in court. Throughout those three years, Lindsay’s parents, Mike and Paula Musgrove, have continued to show up for their daughter,” fundraiser organizer Brandee Mulligan first wrote when the account was set up earlier this year. Read more on the Clancy trial “And that is who this fundraiser is for, Mike and Paula, who have spent years traveling back and forth, staying in hotels, attending court proceedings and ultimately relocating from Connecticut to Massachusetts so they could remain close to Lindsay. “Their lives have largely been put on hold while they have continued doing what parents do: showing up for their child during the unimaginable.” Mulligan, who is a complete stranger to the Musgrove family, added an update on Friday just minutes after the mistrial decision. “I’ve decided to raise the goal of this fundraiser since this process has been extended, so is the time Paula and Mike will remain away from their home, continuing to carry the costs that come with being there for their daughter every day,” she wrote. If they have to keep showing up longer, I want to make sure the support does too.” The fundraising page was also swarmed with commenters, encouraging more to donate and blasting the justice system putting her on trial. Clancy and her defense attorney Kevin Reddington have sparked a bizarre fandom online, with hundreds swarming the courtroom wearing pink and treating her lawyer like a celebrity. It sparked tense clashes with protesters insisting Clancy must be found guilty of murder for strangling her three kids to death with exercise bands in January 2023 in her Boston-suburb home in Duxbury, Massachussets. The 36-year-old has never denied killing her kids: Cora, five, Dawson, three, and eight-month-old Callan. Her defense team has instead pushed for her to be found not guilty by reason of insanity and argued she was suffering from post-partum psychosis at the time of the killings. A mistrial has been officially declared by Judge William Sullivan in the divisive Lindsay Clancy murder trial and the jury has been discharged. If a judge declares a mistrial because of “manifest necessity,” or a circumstance – like a jury deadlock – that makes it impossible for a trial to such as a jury deadlock – it allows the prosecution to try Clancy again with a whole new jury. Per the court clerk, all bail orders before the trial have remained in place and the matter has been continued for September 29. Lindsay will remain in the same mental health facility she has been held in for the entire trial. Evidence was presented duing trial claiming Clancy heard a male voice telling her it was her last chance to save her kids by killing them, before she strangled them, and then attempted to kill herself by slitting her wrists and throat and jumping from a window. Her now ex-husband Patrick found her lying on the ground outside their home before calling 911, when she told him the kids were in the basement. Patrick had been out of the house to collect medicine from CVS for daughter Cora and take-out dinner over a 30-minute drive away. Yet the prosecution argued Lindsay sending Patrick so far away from home and methodically killing her children one by one, was a sign she had not been under a psychosis and had planned to murder the kids. The 12-person jury was forced to listen to six weeks of brutal testimony from experts and medical professionals who have treated Clancy, as well as listening to Patrick’s brutal 911 call which was kept from the public record. The jury deliberated for over 38 hours before confirming they failed to reach an unanimous verdict, with Judge William Sullivan announcing the mistrial. It came after a drama-fuelled few hours, however, with a fiery back and forth between Judge Sullivan and Clancy’s lawyer Reddington over a juror who the foreperson had claimed was failing to follow the law. On Thursday, the jury had sent back a second note claiming they could not reach a unanimous decision with the added claim that 11 members were in agreement, but the 12th was not following the rules around reasonable doubt. Judge Sullivan asked the jurors one by one if they understood and read out the law around reasonable doubt before again sending them back to deliberate for a third time. Yet when they returned on Friday morning again claiming they could not decide, and Judge Sullivan confirmed he would declare a mistrial, Reddington made a dramatic intervention, winning a last-minute bid to try for a stay with the Massachussetts Supreme Court. The appeal was denied after a quick emergency hearing with the jury finally returning to the courtroom to make it official. Reddington slammed the sole holdout juror in a press conference on Friday afternoon, accusing the man of “robbing” them of a verdict and warning he “hopes he sleeps at night.” Clancy stared blankly ahead as the mistrial was confirmed, with her exhausted-looking parents sitting behind her. Michael and Paula are the direct beneficiaries of the fundraiser and will control how the cash is used. The organizer said “the purpose of this fund is to help Mike and Paula rebuild the financial stability they have sacrificed over these past three years.” GoFundMe confirmed to CT Insider that Michael gave permission for the campaign, which was started by TikToker Mulligan. Michael and Paula have publicly made clear that they intend to remain beside their daughter regardless of the case made against her. When Clancy made her first in-person court appearance in February, her parents attended and spoke outside the courthouse, calling her a “loving mother.” Michael added: “We love our daughter very much and we’re here to support her in any way we can.” Paula Musgrove was also called as a witness at trial for the defense, alongside Clancy’s sister and ex-mother-in-law. The support has reportedly involved far more than attending hearings. The couple are said to have effectively put their lives in Connecticut on hold to remain in Massachusetts while their daughter receives psychiatric care and now potentially awaits a second trial. Clancy has spent roughly three-and-a-half years receiving round-the-clock treatment at Tewksbury State Hospital, after being left paralyzed in a wheelchair in her failed suicide attempt. During the trial, her world has reportedly revolved largely around the hospital and courtroom as she made the roughly 60-mile journey to Plymouth for proceedings.
