No Man's Sky Creator Says He Wants To Work On Light No Fire For 10 Years After Launch Published Aug 10, 2026, 1:08 PM EDT Joshua Robertson is an editor for TheGamer, having working in news, guides, features, and reviews since 2022. They have written thousands of news stories, ranging from industry-breaking events, to smaller, more personal community pieces, and have covered several high-profile showcases such as The Game Awards and Nintendo Directs. Joshua is considered an expert in soulslikes, horror, JRPGs and everything Final Fantasy, having written extensive coverage for massively popular online titles like Final Fantasy 14. No Man's Sky is easily one of the industry's greatest live-service success stories, going from a fairly mediocre survival game at launch, to a game that many look at as the true example of a game molded by its community and a loving development team. It's received 10 years of constant updates, and now Hello Games is revered as one of the best devs on the planet. So, if you take all of that into context, it makes sense why so many people are so excited about the studio's next big title, Light No Fire. It's essentially going to be the fantasy equivalent of No Man's Sky, and while it will almost definitely release in a better state than its predecessor this time around (or at least you'd hope so), you have to wonder whether it will get the same support. Sean Murray Wants To Support Light No Fire For A Long Time Thankfully, it sounds as though Hello Games may have similar plans for Light No Fire. In a recent interview with PC Gamer, Hello Games founder Sean Murray explained that due to how the community in Light No Fire will essentially function the same as No Man's Sky, in which players will put forward ideas or suggestions, Light No Fire will get plenty of post-launch support. "We feel that [Light No Fire is] a game that will fit with that way of making games, where you can think of a lot of ideas, and they would make sense, and we can feed off the community," says Murray. "Whether we'll be lucky enough to get to work on it for 10 years after launch, I don't know, but I'd like to. I've worked on it for seven years now, and I'm still really enjoying it." That's pretty comforting to hear, especially when you look at No Man's Sky and how different it is to the game's launch. Even if the worst happens and Light No Fire does feel a bit lackluster, we can rest knowing that Hello Games will be on the case, taking feedback into account, and will mold the game into something it can be proud of.
