Today, London, UK-via-Asheville, NC musician Bex Vines released "Misfortune," her debut single under the moniker lifepath99. The song, which was produced by Liam Brand (Zach Bryan, Mount Kimbie), transforms a nightmare into alternative bliss."Misfortune" opens with a warped lullaby-esque melody. It's creepy and endearing, as are the lyrics about the walls caving in and someone's stalking gaze. The guitars are woozy and bloody. The bass is heavy like a chain, while Vines' voice is light as a cotton nightgown. “‘Misfortune’ was born of a narrow path I had to walk down every day, and the fear that someone would be lurking there," Vines shared in a press release. "The broader reality is that many people carry this awareness with them every day, especially in the political climate today. Writing this song became a way to process this fear and take some of that power back; while I can’t change people’s behavior, I can decide how much psychological power I let their presence have over me.”Check it out below.
