There must be tonnes of pressure to make sure it's as good as possible, and inevitably, a lot of ideas that are thrown around (or even worked on) during development won't make it into the final game. Lies of P was no exception, and in fact, it seems to have undergone a change more dramatic than most. Lies Of P Overture Was Originally Much Bigger Than It Was At Launch Earlier today, a video was posted to the Lies of P YouTube channel which detailed the development of Lies of P, from its conception all the way up until the launch of the DLC. In fact, Overture is arguably the thing that the team struggled with the most, as game director Choi Ji-wong reveals in the video that brutal internal feedback forced the team to make a series of cuts. "When we started working on "Overture", our goal was to deliver something that felt different from the main game," says Ji-won. "We spent a lot of time figuring out how to create a different experience. We incorporated all of those ideas into the game thinking 'this should be good, this should be fun'. Then we held our first Game Day.""Even during that first test, the response wasn't very good," he continues. "At first we thought 'it's still early, it just needs more polish', but as development continued, the internal feedback only got worse. We realized that if we didn't make a major change, we were in trouble." Ji-won goes on to explain that the team essentially "went back to square one" with the DLC, cutting a bunch of chapters as they believed they'd made things too ambitious. He reveals that one of these chapters would have explained how Archbishop Andreus — one of the DLC's major bosses — ended up becoming corrupted. Eventually, a bunch of stuff was cut, and the team went in a different direction with the story, which apparently "wasn't something the entire team could agree on." It would have been interesting to see exactly what this cut version of Overture exactly was, especially since I think Overture turned out pretty great all round, but I guess we'll never see it. The pains of game development, I suppose. Released June 6, 2025 ESRB M For Mature: Blood and Violence Developer(s) Neowiz Publisher(s) Neowiz Engine Unreal Engine 4 Genre(s) Action, Adventure
