(Picture: In Pictures via Getty Images) If you’re a Lidl shopper, you’ll know the budget retailer recently made some major changes to its Lidl Plus scheme. It’s now known as Lidl Plus Points and under the new system, members earn one point for every £1 they spend in store. And while some thought the changes were ‘a slap in the face’, others didn’t mind them. But if you’ve been missing how things were before, you’ll be pleased to hear that one of the most popular perks of the scheme has returned. The Bakery Spin is back, giving Brits the chance to nab a free sweet (or savoury) treat. Ask Metro Use AI to go deeper into the stories you care about – powered by Metro and trusted publications. Here’s everything you need to know… What is the Lidl Plus Bakery Spin? The Bakery Spin promotion is available to all Lidl Plus Points members, and it’s back on the app from now until 11.59pm on August 19, 2026. All you have to do to be eligible for a spin is have a Lidl Plus membership and purchase something from Lidl with a minimum spend of 1p. Once you’ve completed your purchase and scanned the app at the checkout, you’ll automatically receive a digital bakery spin game on your device. This will appear on the home screen, but it can take up to 24 hours to appear. You have seven days after purchasing to play the game, and every spin will be rewarded with a free bakery item, and a prize coupon will be sent shortly after. And the best part? You can play the Bakery Spin multiple times throughout the promotion; you just can’t do it on the same day. Shoppers must leave at least one day between purchases to get another spin. What bakery items can you get for free? Plenty of items are included in the promotion (Photo by: Alex Segre/UCG/Universal Images Group via Getty Images) Not every item in the bakery is included in the promotion, and you don’t have free rein to pick whatever you’d like. Winners will be given a choice between two or three items for their prize. The items are issued at random and will be allocated based on stock availability at the time. Potential freebies include: One free Large French Baguette One free All Butter Croissant One free Brownie One free Almond Croissant One free Apple Turnover One free Baked Cookies Assorted One free Belgian Bun One free Cheese Pretzel Roll One free Chocolate Cronut One free Chocolate Hazelnut Doughnut One free Focaccia Pizza Pepperoni One free Demi Baguette One free Filled Muffins Assorted One free Jam Filled Doughnut One free Maple and Pecan Plait 5.5% Pecans One free Belgian Choc Cookie Assorted One free Pink Iced Ring Doughnut One free Pretzel One free Rosemary and Sea Salt Focaccia Roll One free Toffee Filled Yum Yum One free Vegetable Pizza Slice What do Lidl shoppers say about Bakery Spin? Online, the promotion has been dubbed ‘the ultimate Lidl hack’, ‘a real bargain’, ‘amazing’, and ‘fab’. Some customers have also revealed what they purchase from Lidl in order to meet the minimum spend, without doing a proper shop. The most common tip was to buy one single carrot for around 5p. Others opt to purchase a single banana for less than 15p at breakfast time, so they can enjoy fruit and a free pastry for their morning meal. What's your favourite Lidl bakery item?
