Liars – “Beat Creep Some Eyes”

This is proving to be a rough morning for lowercase-letter liars, but it's looking a lot better for capital-letter Liars. Next year, the band, now a solo project for longtime frontman Angus Andrew, will release A Ban On Plastic Bag Bans, a new album inspired by the time that Andrew and his family spent in Kalamazoo, Michigan. (Good morning for Michigan, by the way.) We've already heard the lead single "Ice Pick, Kalamazoo," and now Andrew has also shared a new song called "Beat Creep Some Eyes." "Beat Creep Some Eyes" is a hypnotic track driven by sustained synth drones and rolling-freakout drums. Angus Andrew's voice, a drawn-out deadpan chant, sounds otherworldly. Clemens Habicht put together the evocative video using black-and-white photos that Andrew took with a 3D camera around Kalamazoo. Both song and video capture a feeling of creeping decay. Here's what Andrew says about it:Sometimes, I think the strangest thing isn't that the world is absurd, but how quickly we get used to it. You can find yourself living inside something completely ridiculous, and after a while it just becomes Tuesday. Then you start to wonder if you're seeing things clearly at all. You know what you're looking at, but you're no longer sure you're seeing it correctly. I think the music lives somewhere in that space.Check it out below.A Ban On Plastic Bag Bans is out 3/5 on Mute.
