Sign in to your ScreenRant account Liam Neeson's new CIA thriller movie has instantly redeemed itself on streaming, one month after it was originally released. Neeson's action movies are a staple of his career, from classics like the Taken franchise to newer outings like The Naked Gun and Absolution. As the defining genre of his career, Neeson has starred in many high-octane thrill rides. This includes two movies in 2026. The first of these, Cold Storage, is a sci-fi horror comedy with action elements, which Neeson starred in alongside Joe Keery and Georgina Campbell. The other movie is the CIA thriller The Fix. Released on September 11, 2026, the movie stars Neeson as Larry, a former CIA agent and mentor to Tucker, played by Zachary Levi. Larry's cognitive issues cause him to reveal the location of $25 million to his protégé, hidden in the walls of a hotel in Tehran, Iran during the 1981 embassy crisis. Tucker puts together a team to embark upon the mission and split the money amongst themselves. However, upon their arrival, they're faced with a moral dilemma that makes their heist more challenging. Neeson's The Fix Is Quickly Redeeming Itself On Amazon The Fix had a limited release last month, earning only $1 million at the box office. However, the Neeson-led movie is gaining traction on streaming after its recent VOD release. According to data from October 20, 2026, the movie is sitting at Number 15 in the Top 25 Amazon VOD releases in the United States. This puts it above a number of high-profile recent releases, including Backrooms, The Invite, and The Devil Wears Prada 2. It helps that the movie isn't available on streaming, making a purchase the only way to watch it as of writing. The Fix provides a story that leads its core characters to have to make difficult decisions in the face of getting what they want, particularly when it comes to their personal morality. The movie doesn't shy away from these difficulties, with a particular focus on the way Tucker's mission plays out after learning the location of the money from Larry. As the mission unfolds, though, the difficulties he and the team face make for the most potent part of the 141-minute thriller. The Spy Thriller Hit Another Rare Low For Neeson Unfortunately, despite The Fix being a streaming success, the movie hit a rare low for Neeson when it comes to its critical reception. Reviews for The Fix have been mostly negative, with the movie currently sitting at a 16% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 31 critic reviews. This makes it his fourth worst-reviewed movie of his career. Alternatively, audiences seem to have enjoyed it, with the movie scoring a 75% from over 100 verified ratings. This dichotomy proves that, while there's plenty of criticism to be aimed at the film, regular viewers offered it redemption. Neeson has a number of other movies lined up after his CIA thriller that will be coming out before the decade is over. This includes The Mongoose, a car chase-focused action thriller set for theatrical release on October 30, 2026, and an adaptation of the crime comic 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank, slated for release in 2027. The Fix further proves the actor's popularity on the big screen, even when it's a movie that critics weren't big on.
