Liam Neeson's New CIA Thriller Debuts To All-Time Career Rotten Tomatoes Record

Sign in to your ScreenRant account Liam Neeson's new movie The Fix is now in theaters, and the CIA thriller has made its debut on Rotten Tomatoes with a shocking critic score. The cast of The Fix is led by Neeson and Zachary Levi, who play former CIA operatives leading a group of operators into Tehran following a mission-gone-wrong in Afghanistan. Directed by Guy Moshe, the thriller also stars Quincy Isaiah, Wes Chatham, Jake Choi, Augusto Aguilera, Elnaaz Norouzi, Navid Negahban, Grant Harvey, Lara Wolf and Titus Welliver. The Fix was released on the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, but it's not getting a positive reception from critics, who are currently giving the film a 14% score on Rotten Tomatoes, which is Neeson's fourth-lowest-rated movie ever on the popular review aggregation website. So far, early reviews have called The Fix preposterous, bland, manipulative and way too long, with ridiculous plot twists thrown in. The script and casting choices were also criticized, with Levi's performance singled out as a lowlight of the film. Screen Rant's Alex Harrison gave The Fix a score of 5 out of 10 and said Levi was miscast. There aren't enough audience reviews yet to generate a score on the Popcornmeter, but so far, general moviegoers who have seen The Fix are more receptive than critics are. Several of them have praised the action and suspense, though others called out the long run time and were mixed on Neeson's performance. The Fix is not Neeson's lowest-rated film on Rotten Tomatoes, though. That distinction goes to 2022's Blacklight (at 11%), which not only was widely panned but also flopped at the box office, earning only $15.9 million. In between Blacklight and The Fix on the list of Neeson's lowest-rated movies are The Nut Job (12%) and Taken 3 (13%). Earlier in the year, he starred in Cold Storage, a horror comedy about a group of people trying to prevent a parasitic fungus from causing catastrophe after it escapes a military base. Unlike The Fix, Cold Storage earned positive reviews from critics and an 81% on Rotten Tomatoes. Throughout his career, Neeson has also starred in movies like Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, Batman Begins, Excalibur, Gangs of New York, Love Actually and The Chronicles of Narnia. His role in Schindler's List earned him Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations for Best Actor. The Fix may not have reached the highs of Schindler's List, but Neeson has another chance later this year when he stars in the action thriller The Mongoose, which comes out on October 30.
