Lewis has a big announcement in Emmerdale but heartbreak follows as Vinny’s exit looms

Things may end in tears (Picture: ITV) Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches) has built a quite the family unit during the short time he’s lived in Emmerdale. You’ve got motherly figure Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler), big brother Ross Barton (Michael Parr), pal Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah), and chaotic biological father Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill). Lewis’ relationship with Kev has been a strong focus for the ITV soap over the past few weeks. Both Lewis and Kev decided that they’d like to get to know each other, but they’ve faced multiple challenges that have all threatened to destroy their dynamic. They’re back on good terms now and, in upcoming episodes, they continue to make progress. Once Lewis reveals that he can’t ride a bike, Kev jumps at the chance to teach him. Unbeknownst to Lewis, Kev has a lot to hide from him at the moment…plus he hasn’t actually told his son that he can’t ride a bike either. Even in the next scenes coming up, you think things are calming down, then Kev listens to one thing Lewis says and goes “I am going to make this happen for my son”. It’s all from a place of love. Lewis goes “Oh god I shouldn’t have said that. Because Kev is going to run with it and do stupid things.” He’s going to learn to love it. A bit like how Ross learned to love Lewis. It’s just Kev being Kev. Which is just a really nice thing.’ Later, Ruby Miligan (Beth Cordingly) catches up with Kev and asks him to rob the delivery for Jimmy King’s (Nick Miles) new haulage contract. Kev tells her that he isn’t interested, and marches off to find Lewis. On the green, Kev tries to show Lewis how to ride a bike, but he quickly realises that his dad hasn’t been totally honest about his skills. Kev crashes to the floor, but feels relief when Lewis lies beside him. They laugh, enjoying the moment and bonding as father and son. As Lewis and Kev stare up at the clouds, Lewis surprises his dad with an announcement. But what will it be? The duo share a wholesome moment (Picture: ITV) Bradley Johnson is leaving his role as Vinny (Picture: ITV) With things being hugely positive for Lewis right now, it’s possible his announcement may link to his relationship with Vinny. Whatever it might be, we know Bradley Johnson is leaving the ITV soap as Vinny Dingle, which suggests things with the duo may go south soon enough… Reflecting on these upcoming scenes with Kev and Lewis, Bradley shared: ‘My favourite thing that Chris has ever said is “I do my own stunts”, which is the best thing ever. He flips over this bike and the director wants a bit of safety. Chris says “don’t worry, I’ve done worse things!” and flips himself over the bike! It’s so funny. The director did drone shots. It looks really cool and really wholesome. ‘They lie down look at the clouds and talk about life. Kev asks some awkward weird questions, which are the weirdest thing that a dad could ask. It’s a pivotal scene for Lewis and Kev where you realise they are actually going to be okay together.’ Deals of the Day Parents can save up to 30% on Kickers school shoes ahead of the new term The back-to-school hack that's helping parents avoid queues and sold-out sizes Could your hair be wavy rather than straight?
