Letter: SCOTUS further dilutes minority protections
The Voting Rights Act was enacted in 1965 to eliminate election practices that are perceived to be discriminatory and have the effect of diluting the influence of racial minority voters. This protection led to the election of hundreds of federal, state and local candidates of color, especially in states with a history of discrimination.
