Lenny Rush among new cast members joining season two of Harry Potter TV series

Lenny Rush is among the new cast members who will be joining the second season of the upcoming Harry Potter TV series.The 17-year-old actor, who shot to fame starring in Am I Being Unreasonable? alongside Daisy May Cooper, will play Dobby in the HBO adaptation of the children’s fantasy novels by JK Rowling.The Bafta-winning star will feature as the troublesome house-elf who warns Harry Potter not to return to Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry for his second year, and acts as his secret protector.Emmy-winning actor Billy Barratt is another new addition to the show and will portray Tom Riddle – the younger version of evil wizard Lord Voldemort, who plays a central role in the second book.Other newcomers include young actress Bonnie Hill, who will take over the role of Ginny Weasley after it was announced that it would be recast for the second series due to “unforeseen circumstances”.Actress Gracie Cochrane, who will portray the youngest member of the Weasley family in the first season of the show, left the role earlier this year.The new cast members were revealed in a post to the HBO Max Instagram on Friday, which read: “The Chamber of Secrets has been opened.”The announcement comes after a new trailer for the show was released earlier this week, showing the title character trying out the sorting hat and playing Quidditch for the first time in a glimpse at the magic to come.Lenny Rush will play Dobby (Ian West/PA)PA WireThe show aims to be a faithful adaptation of Rowling’s novels, while providing a wider insight into the magical wizarding world beyond that depicted in the hit film franchise, which ran from 2001 to 2011.The three main characters – young wizards Harry Potter Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger – are played by Dominic McLaughlin, Alastair Stout and Arabella Stanton.The cast also includes Paapa Essiedu as Professor Severus Snape and US actor John Lithgow as the wise and powerful headmaster of Hogwarts, Professor Albus Dumbledore.Read MoreThe first season of the HBO show will launch this Christmas, and has been adapted from Rowling’s first novel, Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone.
