Lego Unveils Massive New Star Wars 6,130-Piece Set Inspired by the Empire Strikes Back

Three of Lego's biggest sets are Star Wars sets: The Lego Death Star, released in 2025, reigns supreme in sheer size with its 9,023-piece recreation of the Empire's super weapon. That's followed by the 7,541-piece Lego Millennium Falcon and the 6,785-piece Lego AT-AT. Now there's a new contender: the Lego Star Wars Executor Super Star Destroyer set, which The Lego Group officially revealed on Wednesday. With its 6,130-piece build, the Lego Star Wars Executor Super Star Destroyer set won't dethrone the other gargantuan Lego Star Wars sets, but it does set one new record. It's now "the longest Lego Star Wars brick-built model to date," the toy maker said. The Lego Star Wars Executor Super Star Destroyer is based on the comically long flagship used by Darth Vader in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. The Lego version of Vader's Star Destroyer — which measures 19,000 meters long in Star Wars canon, Wookieepedia tells us — is an impressive 53.5 inches (136 cm) in length. To achieve this impressive feat, Lego says, the set's design team "engineered a Lego System core with slender Lego Technic outriggers that anchor the exterior panels, delivering strength without bulk." Lego explains another cool design feature of the set as follows: Authenticity and detail are at the heart of this set, which features dense central greebling contrasted against sleek side panels. Among the 6,130 elements is a newly designed decorated tile graphic used 60 times to recreate the tiny hull lights and central detailing. The graphic works across multiple orientations and overlaps, allowing the repeated tiles read as organic "random lights". Controlled inversions are utilised to switch building orientation mid-build, exposing both stud and tube sides for richer detailing on the center spine and underside. The Lego Star Wars Executor Super Star Destroyer set includes a few other ships for scale, including a standard Star Destroyer, which is dwarfed by its larger cousin. The wee Star Destroyer even includes a teeny-tiny Millennium Falcon, which is attached to the smaller destroyer's rear. Image: Lucasfilm, The Lego Group The new $799.99 set also includes seven Lego minifigures, including Darth Vader himself. To recreate the iconic bounty hunter scene from The Empire Strikes Back, Lego is also including all six bounty hunters featured in the film in minifigure form: Boba Fett, Dengar, Bossk, IG-88, 4-LOM, and Zuckuss. They can all gather on a minifig-scale Lego version of the Executor bridge.
