It brought the world of Dungeons & Dragons to Lego for the first time. Not only have no other D&D sets joined it since, but now the one and only D&D set that’s still available is about to disappear forever. Lego Lego will retire a lot of popular sets at the end of this month. Zelda’s Great Deku Tree and the Mario and Yoshi Super Mario World set are the retirees that have been stealing all the headlines. That’s why the imminent retirement of the Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale set has flown under the radar. Now the big day is almost upon us, and the set is already notoriously difficult to find. The Red Dragon’s Tale set was born from a Lego Ideas submission, meaning it started life as a fan-made creation, got enough support to be taken under review by Lego, and eventually became a real set. It combines three locations into a single set - a tavern, a dungeon, and a tower - but unlike some of the more recent modular sets, it does it seamlessly, blending the three locations into one. The coup de grace of the set is the massive red dragon that perches on top of it. It’s also packed with minifigures pulled from D&D lore and so many easter eggs that there might be people out there with the set who still haven’t found them all. All of that comes together to create a 3,745-piece set that costs $359.99, but pretty soon, it won’t be available at all. The Set Is Already Sold Out Almost Everywhere Lego Even though the set won’t officially retire until next week, it’s already out of stock on LEGO’s US site. That might mean it will never be restocked, especially with only days to go until retirement. However, it’s still available on the UK site, which might indicate there’s one more US restock coming, or you can try to buy it from there. Unless you’re reading this in the UK, in which case there’s no try about it - you can just go ahead and buy it. If you don’t fancy a trip across the pond, or trying to figure out how to get a Lego set shipped across the Atlantic, there are sets listed on Amazon. They do already appear to be scalpers trying to sell the retiring set for an inflated price, though. The set is also sold out on Walmart and Best Buy’s sites, but it’s worth visiting your local store. They may well have a set or two left in stock. The same applies to your local Lego store, if you have one. The only other presence D&D had Lego-wise was its series of collectible minifigures. Not many IPs have had the honor of getting their own CMF, as D&D joined the likes of Spider-Man and now Shrek. However, those minifigures have been retired too, which means after July 31, there will officially be no current D&D Lego of any description.
