Lego gets into anime with an amazing Dragon Ball Shenron & Goku set

| GameCentral News Writer Published September 30, 2026 4:47pm Updated September 30, 2026 4:47pm Shenron and Goku look great in Lego form (Lego) The first ever Dragon Ball Lego set has been unveiled and it’s a pitch perfect recreation of the dragon Shenron and Kid Goku on his cloud. Since almost everything gets made into Lego nowadays, from Downton Abbey to the original PlayStation console, the company has already dabbled with anime. The Exo-Force theme from the early 2000s and elements of the modern Ninjago line have a clear anime influence, while Lego already has sets based on One Piece. That was the Netflix live action adaption though, while this new Dragon Ball set is based directly on the original manga and anime. There are also rumours of other franchises getting a similar treatment in the future, so if this is setting the standard for other sets to come than there is a lot to be excited about. Shenron & Goku is very much described as the first set of a new theme, with more to come for Dragon Ball in 2027. Although given how good it looks, this 1,764 piece design is plenty to be getting on with. The set recreates the moment that the dragon Shenron is summoned from the seven collected dragon balls, with Kid Goku riding around on his Kintoun (aka Flying Nimbus). Lego has used the original anime as the inspiration for the design, which in terms of engineering alone is easily the best Asian style dragon they’ve ever done. Shenron’s very fluid, organic design doesn’t naturally lend itself to the angular world of Lego, but the end result is very impressive. The seven dragon balls are a neat touch too, while Kid Goku becomes the first official Dragon Ball minifigure, and can be repositioned anywhere on the display. Even the cloud looks really good (Lego) When fully complete, the model is over 32cm high, 24 cm long, and 26cm wide, depending on how you pose the arms and Kid Goku on his cloud. ‘We’re thrilled to bring the world of Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball to life with the Lego Group. There’s no clue in that as to what the sets due next year might be, but it’s common for Lego to release larger sets aimed at adults at the start of a new licensed theme, as they did with Pokémon, and then smaller ones for a wider age group afterwards. Dragon Ball: Shenron & Goku is set #11390 and part of the Lego Icons line, which also includes licensed sets based on the likes of Transformers and The Lord of the Rings. The set costs £129.99 and will be released on November 4, after which it’ll be available at Lego stores and the Lego website. Although you can get it from November 1 if you’re a Lego Insider, which requires only a free sign-up. Lego Insiders can also spend 20 loyalty points to get an exclusive digital poster featuring the set, as an extra bonus.
