'Legend of Zelda' Switch 2 and Controllers Officially Revealed by Nintendo

The hardware will be released on Oct. 29, one week ahead of the Ocarina of Time remake. Both the controllers and Switch 2 hardware feature a black, gold, and green color scheme that is reminiscent of the franchise protagonist, Link, and his Triforce of Courage. Accordingly, the console and controller display a cluster of triangle-shaped decals surrounding a Triforce symbol and the Hylian Crest. The two are sold separately, but fans who purchase the console will have access to a set of themed Joy-Con 2 controllers. The company is also releasing a special carrying case, so you can keep your console looking fresh. The release coincides with Nintendo's decision to raise the price of the Switch 2 up to $499.99. Earlier in 2025, the Japanese company also hiked prices for the Nintendo Switch and its Lite and OLED variants. These price adjustments are the result of an AI-driven component shortage that is impacting the entire gaming industry. Though some fans were displeased at the prospect of paying more for hardware that is not as powerful as rival consoles, releasing special variants like this one will help soften the blow. As a precaution, Nintendo has already begun warning potential customers in retail stores about the impending price hike. The Ocarina of Time Switch 2 remake is slated for release on Nintendo Switch 2 on Nov. 5. Nintendo revealed first details and 15 minutes of gameplay from its upcoming remake of the Nintendo 64 classic on Tuesday, showing what the Switch 2 is capable of in reimagining the land of Hyrule. Nintendo also wrapped filming in spring 2026 on The Legend of Zelda film starring Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link. The movie, which is a joint production between Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto and Sony veteran Avi Arad, is rumored to feature Sam Neill's final performance. Neill's role in the film has not yet been revealed.
