Sign in to your ScreenRant account The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake's release date is almost upon us. It's so close now, we can almost smell the fresh grass in Kokiri Forest. Pretty soon Navi will be floating beside our bed urging us to wake up in glorious 4K. But even though November 5, 2026, is mere days away, we're still learning crucial last-minute details that might be the difference between rescuing the princess or losing the Triforce to Ganondorf. Let's get into it! Thanks to an update on the backend of the Nintendo eShop, we now know the exact file size of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. This may seem trivial to some, but having enough space on your internal drive or memory card on day one is hugely important so as not to waste any precious playing time having to spring-clean your storage space. And while we previously believed the game size to be 27GB, this new update sheds some light on the exact file size. It might be time to delete that Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour tutorial game that you're never going to play! Fear not though, Zelda fans, as this is good news. While previously reported as 27GB, the actual file size will be smaller. The game file size will, in fact, be 24.54GB, which is almost 2.5GB smaller than first believed. This may come as a relief to Nintendo Switch 2 users who may already be stressing out over storage space thanks to beefy titles like the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Revelation or Apex Legends, and its constant season updates sucking up every megabyte available. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake's file size puts it almost in line with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild, which has some fans speculating just what all the extra storage space is needed for. Sure, it has gorgeous visuals, but some are optimistic that perhaps Nintendo are adding content and perhaps even new regions to explore. While most are convinced this will be a faithful almost 1to1 remake of the original, the idea that we might get more dungeons to explore is incredibly exciting. While some reviewers have had hands-on time with the game, it's still unclear if The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake will have any additional content over the original experience. I guess we'll all have to wait until November 5, 2026, to find out for ourselves. In the meantime, though, knowing the file size will help fans avoid that dreaded 'insufficient space' message when they try to download the game for the first time. Who has time for failed download attempts when there are clay pots filled with rupees longing to be smashed! The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is definitely top of many fans' wishlist for Q4 of 2026, even beating out the juggernaut that is Grand Theft Auto VI for some players' top spot. In a mere few days, fans will once again wake up in Kokiri Forest and start the most iconic adventure of all time once again. A perfect way to pass some time while we wait for news of the next Zelda project in the works. Now if you'll excuse me, I've got many titles to play on Game Pass before they're gone on October 31. The perfect time investment leading up to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake launch. Released November 5, 2026 ESRB Everyone 10+ / Animated Blood, Fantasy Violence Developer(s) Nintendo Publisher(s) Nintendo Franchise The Legend of Zelda Number of Players Single-player
