Premiering in 1999, nine years after the original Law & Order, SVU is still going strong on NBC, with Mariska Hargitay continuing to anchor the show as Olivia Benson. Law & Order: SVU season 28 is several weeks away from premiering, and it’s been revealed that someone whom Hargitay is particularly close to in real life will pay their first visit to this Dick Wolf-created universe in the long-running spinoff. As reported by Variety, New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson will make a guest appearance in the Law & Order: SVU season 28 episode airing on November 5. It’s unclear if Brunson will play a fictional version of himself or a brand-new character who gets roped into that week’s case. Hargitay, who frequently attends Knicks games, has been friends with Brunson, who has shared that he grew up watching SVU, stretching back to when he joined the NBA team in 2022. After the Knicks won the NBA Championship in June, ending a 53-year drought, Brunson said he would “try to go on SVU” during the off season. Hargitay confirmed in August that this was "definitely happening," and said that the basketball player was “kind of magnificent that way. He is just open and ready.” On Monday, Hargitay and Brunson performed together in a prerecorded musical number for the opening of the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, which the former hosted. Along with his Law & Order: SVU guest spot, Brunson is hosting the Saturday Night Live season 52 premiere. This story is developing… Release Date September 20, 1999 Network NBC Showrunner Michael S.
