The Atlanta rapper embraces the critics. Latto on 'Hot Ones.' First We Feast/Hot Ones Latto uses the haters to maintain her edge, and that isn’t changing anytime soon. The Atlanta rapper made her Hot Ones debut on Thursday (Oct. 29), during which she explained how she uses her critics as fuel in the studio. “I think that’s a lot of it for me. I don’t know what it is in me, like you think you’re gonna make me stop or slow down by saying what you saying,” she said. “On my momma, that turns me up.” Latto continued: “Now I got a point to prove. Thank you for putting that battery in my back, b—h. I love when people hate on me because it really gives me a vendetta, like now I have to prove you wrong.” That applies to her “Soul Food Sunday” series, which features her home-cooked meals posted to TikTok and Instagram, as she pays the haters no mind because Latto knows she’s a solid chef at heart. “Baby, I can cook and if you ever get the chance to try my food you’ll know I could cook,” she told host Sean Evans. “They was talking about my gumbo real bad.” Elsewhere in Latto’s spicy wing challenge, she detailed why she doesn’t feel the need to charge artists for features. If Latto’s into hopping on the song, she doesn’t see the point in being paid for it. “In my opinion, it’s a favor. I do features for free. But I’m like, ‘Dang, do I need to be charging?’ Because these motherf–kers be trying to charge me,” she said. “S–t. But I just be like, s–t, I like to rap and I like this song, yeah I’ll do it. Especially if it’s like somebody I f–k with, you know? And if you have to pay me to do the feature, I feel like I shouldn’t be doing the feature. We’re supposed to be making art. So, yeah I’m a favor type of girl. But I’ve been thinking about that now that I got a baby to feed.” Latto gave birth to her first child with 21 Savage earlier this year, and originally planned to hang up her mic for good following the release of her Big Mama album, but she’s walking back any retirement plans. Big Mama arrived in May and debuted at No. 16 on the Billboard 200 with 33,000 total album-equivalent units earned, according to Luminate. Watch Latto complete the wing challenge on Hot Ones below.
