Published October 18, 2026 05:19 PM The Chargers find themselves down 9-3 to the Chiefs in the second quarter and they won’t have wide receiver Ladd McConkey available as they try to avoid another loss. McConkey’s day came to an early end when he was taken out to be evaluated for a head injury in the first quarter and the Chargers announced that he has been ruled out with a concussion a short time later. It’s the latest in a series of injuries that have kept McConkey out of one game and made him a regular on the injury report so far this season. Shortly after McConkey was ruled out, Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert threw his eighth interception of the season and Chiefs linebacker Jack Cochrane returned it inside the Chargers’ 20-yard-line. Two Kenneth Walker runs got the Chiefs close to the end zone, but Patrick Mahomes put a ball up for grabs instead of throwing it away under pressure and Chargers corner Cam Hart snagged it in the end zone to keep the deficit at six points.
