The announcement was hailed by Trades Union Congress chief Paul Nowak. But Reform’s Robert Jenrick said the Government’s “hypocrisy is off the charts”. Shadow Business Secretary Julia Lopez said: “Unions are back pulling the strings, dictating policy.” But Labour and the TUC said their funding is the “cleanest money” in politics. Labour added: “There’s a world of difference between money donated by hundreds of thousands of nurses, cleaners and teaching assistants through unions, and millions of pounds donated to Reform by a handful of crypto billionaires.
