Kyle Shanahan on Brandon Aiyuk's meeting with 49ers: I couldn't care less

Published November 6, 2026 05:16 PM 49ers team officials will meet with wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, at the team’s business offices in an hour. Coach Kyle Shanahan said it has nothing to do with him.“No clue. Your guess is as good as mine,” Shanahan told reporters Friday when asked what he expected out of the meeting. “I [couldn’t] care less.”Aiyuk last played in a game on Oct. 20, 2024, when he tore the ACL and MCL in his right knee. The relationship between the team and the player fell apart after that, and the 49ers voided the guaranteed money due to his unwillingness to rehab at their facility. The 49ers placed him on the reserve/left squad list on Dec. 13, 2025. Rosenhaus filed a reinstatement request on Oct. 27, but the NFL still hasn’t reinstated him.The only certainty is Aiyuk will never play for the 49ers again. “It’s been over for our football team for a long time,” Shanahan said. “So, I don’t hear much except questions about him today, but not too big of a deal for me to answer. “I look at this as zero to do with our football team. Anything that has zero to do with our football team, especially during the season, I will give zero thoughts to.”
