Kyiv’s High Council of Justice Suffers Damage in Russian Strike

An administrative building was damaged, windows were broken in nearby residential buildings, and cars were damaged,” Oleksandr Sazanovich, the head of Kyiv’s Shevchenkivska District State Administration (RDA), wrote on Telegram.While Sazanovich did not identify the building damaged, the council issued an official press release noting that its building is among those damaged, adding that operations have been temporarily suspended.“All relevant services are working on the scene. The consequences of the attack are currently being eliminated and information on the extent of the damage is being clarified.”The council is responsible for appointing and dismissing judges, handling disciplinary cases, and deciding on measures against judges – and prosecutors – accused of misconduct, according to the Constitution of Ukraine.The building is located less than 500 meters (1,640 feet) from Kyiv’s Lukyanivka metro station, which has been a frequent target of Russian attacks.The latest attack was part of a massive overnight Russian drone assault on Ukraine as officials said Russia launched nearly 300 drones, including jet-powered Shahed-type drones.
