Kyiv to Reduce Curfew Hours Starting Sept. 10

Curfew hours in Kyiv will be reduced by an hour starting at midnight on Thursday, Sept. 10, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.The new hours will be 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. daily, replacing the midnight to 5 a.m. curfew that has been in place over the past few years since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.JOIN US ON TELEGRAMFollow our coverage of the war on the @Kyivpost_official.Klitschko wrote on Monday that public transportation will also run an extra hour to accommodate the new schedule.“These changes will come into effect from 00:00 on September 10. Accordingly, the working hours of public transport in the capital will be extended by 1 hour,” Klitschko wrote in his Telegram update.During curfew, no one is allowed to travel around the city without official permission, except when seeking shelter during Russian attacks.Klitschko added that the working hours of private businesses remain the same.“The working hours of public catering establishments, entertainment venues, and shopping malls will not change,” he added.Klitschko noted that “movement of large-sized transit transport during the curfew” has also been approved since Sept. 3, in addition to the four new bus routes servicing the train station during curfew hours due to frequent delays caused by Russian attacks.The Kyiv Defense Council adopted the new decisions as part of a series of earlier changes adopted by the government, which also sought to introduce a two-tier air raid siren system in response to Russia’s new constant drone strikes.
