The Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU) hosted an Animal Agripreneurship Summit in Thrissur to explore future business opportunities in livestock and allied sectors.Organised by the Technology Business Incubation Centre (TBIC) of the varsity under the Directorate of Entrepreneurship, the programme brought together faculty members, entrepreneurship experts, and key stakeholders to discuss business prospects and ways to promote agripreneurship.Faculty members from various disciplines presented entrepreneurial opportunities in farm management, meat processing, dairy, poultry, veterinary clinical and paraclinical services, and animal feed and pet food. The sessions explored how scientific knowledge, technological advancements, and professional expertise could be translated into commercially viable ventures to meet the evolving needs of farmers, livestock entrepreneurs, and the pet care industry.The summit also examined the challenges involved in setting up and expanding enterprises in animal agriculture. Discussions focussed on viable business models, practical constraints faced by aspiring entrepreneurs, and ways to strengthen the support system needed to turn research and innovative ideas into successful businesses.T.S.
