Kuwait and Pakistan sign joint defence deal

Kuwait and Pakistan have signed a joint defence and military cooperation agreement during the Kuwaiti defence minister's visit to Islamabad on Thursday. The agreement constitutes a “significant step in defense and military cooperation between the two countries”, the Kuwait Army said in a statement. Under the agreement, Pakistan's armed forces will assist Kuwait in training and capacity building of its military and defence forces, according to Pakistani media, as well as helping with “border management and other mutually agreed areas of defence cooperation”. Officials said the aim of the deal is to “strengthen operational coordination, exchange military experiences, and enhance the level of readiness and integration” among the the armed forces of both countries. This comes after Pakistan signed a ⁠joint defence agreement with Saudi Arabia and Turkey earlier this month.
