Kurnool prepares three sites for Ganesh idol immersion on September 22

SUBRAMANYAM The district administration has made elaborate arrangements for the immersion of Ganesh idols at three locations in and around Kurnool city on Tuesday (September 22, 2026).Kurnool Municipal Corporation (KMC) Commissioner Challa Obulesu said arrangements for immersion of idols were being made at the K-C Canal Vinayaka Ghat, Handri-Neeva canal near Nannur Toll Gate, and the HNSS Ghat at Ullindakonda. “Necessary arrangements have been made at these three locations to ensure devotees do not face any inconvenience during the immersion of the idols,” he added.He stated that a total of 15 cranes have been deployed to facilitate smooth and safe immersion. While seven cranes are deployed at the K-C Canal Vinayaka Ghat, six are stationed near the Nannur Toll Gate, and two at Ullindakonda.He added that essential facilities including electricity, lighting, barricading, public address systems, sanitation management have been put in place, and municipal staff has been deployed for smooth conduct of the festivities.Mr. Obulesu further noted that special arrangements have been made for immersion at the K-C Canal Vinayaka Ghat, where the water level stood at more than 9 feet depth.The Commissioner urged devotees to cooperate with the authorities during the immersion process. He advised them to proceed in an orderly manner, following official instructions to avoid traffic disruptions while transporting idols to the immersion sites. He also requested that they adhere to the barricades and guidelines in place and cooperate with the staff by refraining from approaching the cranes unnecessarily.Mr. Obulesu said the corporation has deployed sanitation staff and officials at the immersion sites to ensure continuous monitoring. Measures are being taken in coordination with all departments to ensure the immersion procession proceeds peacefully and safely, he added.Meanwhile, more than 2,000 police personnel and officers have been deployed, and vigilance has intensified to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the immersion procession. The police will maintain surveillance with drones and CCTVs, Superintendent of Police Vikrant Patil said, adding that traffic restrictions have been imposed in the city to ensure the free flow of traffic.
