Sonar provided some evidence of misuse of money paid by students as admission fees. The committee estimated that some staff were involved in diverting around ₹10 lakh from the university account to their personal accounts over a few years. The committee suspected the involvement of some staff, officers and professors. However, it did not recommend any legal action against the accused.“It was decided in the 156th syndicate meeting held recently in Uduthadi that a member of the syndicate should be included in the new review committee, which will include syndicate members, financial officers, UUCMS (Unified University and College Management System) officers and some senior professors. The newly appointed committee will examine the alleged fraud in fee payment and present its report in the next syndicate meeting for appropriate action,’’ university sources said.Mallamma Yalawara, syndicate member, has demanded the intervention of the higher education department and the Governor’s office. She has sought a high-level inquiry into the alleged irregularities.“A committee has been formed for a comprehensive investigation into the allegations. Strict action will be taken if any loss is found to have been caused to the university,’’ Vijaya Korishetty, Vice-Chancellor, said. Published - September 07, 2026 06:42 pm IST
