KRISTIAN PRENGA is out to CANCEL Anthony Joshua’s mega-money fight with Tyson Fury – and warned his rival will pay the price. AJ has signed to finally face Fury at the end of the year but first returns in a warm-up bout against 20-1 Albanian Prenga on Saturday in Jeddah. He said to Ring Magazine: “I told him before too. It’s not good to make a plan before God. How does he know what’s going on with me? I’m gonna cancel the fight.” Talks are already underway behind the scenes to map out a date and location for Joshua vs Fury. But Prenga – who has won ALL of his fights by KO – is happy to be overlooked. He said: “I say it before too. I don’t care for this. I think it’s better for me because people say ‘it’s nobody’, but we’re gonna see Saturday who I am.” Joshua’s last fight ended after six mismatched rounds in Miami against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul, 29. But just ten days later, AJ survived a car crash in Nigeria that tragically claimed the lives of his friends Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami. The last time Joshua stepped foot in the ring against anyone other than a former Disney Channel actor was in 2024 – when he was brutally knocked out by Daniel Dubois. So Prenga, 35, is full of confidence that the once destructive knockout artist that won Olympic gold and unified world titles is long gone. He said: “AJ is a great fighter, brother. He has everything, but now I think it’s his career, it’s done. “I think right now it’s worse than it’s ever been. So it’s in the downhill.” Fury, 37, has also penned his half of the deal to fight Joshua, 36, and returns in a warm-up of his own one day before against Mariusz Wach. But AJ – who lost out on a two-fight deal with Deontay Wilder in 2024 when the American lost to Joseph Parker – is adamant his eyes are on Prenga. He said: “I don’t expect Prenga or anyone to be at the level that I’ve seen them. “I expect them to be 20-25 per cent better. But so will I because I know what’s at stake. “It doesn’t matter about your record, it doesn’t matter about your history, it’s about on the night and that’s where for me I’ve got to be fully focussed and no matter how good they are, I’m fully locked in.” Comment now
