Kristen Bell recalled facing “8-foot waves” as she faced what she called a “near-death” experience on the set of “Nobody Wants This.” “I had a near-death experience with 10 members of the crew on the season,” Bell said during Monday’s episode of husband Dax Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” podcast, noting that it happened “in the waves.” Bell — who was joined by co-stars Adam Brody, Justine Lupe, and Timothy Simons — divulged she was shooting scenes on the beach for Season 3 of the beloved Netflix series when she was instructed to get in the water. “I had to pretend to be nude, so I’m wearing a scuba suit from here down,” she shared. Poor Aaron, our A camera operator, was getting pummeled by the waves. Both cameras were underwater.” Bell described the waves as being 8 feet tall and the water was “so cold.” Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard “Just before [a wave was] about to crash, all the stunt people start screaming,” she recalled of the chaotic experience. The water, she remembered, was “so cold.” After the director informed her they “didn’t get the shot,” and that she’d need to “go out again,” Bell recalled saying, “Somebody’s going to be washed away.” They eventually got the shot, the “Frozen” star said, admitting that she’d told herself she would “go out for the least amount of time possible.” “When you watch the show, you’ll notice the only angle they use is the side angle because the front-on angle, it was horrific to watch,” she explained. Bell, 46, ultimately confessed that the scene — which she’d suggested, in vain, be shot in a water tank, instead — turned out to be “amazing.” The actress told husband Dax Shepard — with whom she’s seen here in January — that they eventually got the “amazing” shot. In July 2025, Bell’s proud husband took to Instagram to celebrate her first Emmy nomination with a revealing snapshot of her doing yoga in nothing but socks. “People might not know everything that happens behind the scenes in order to create an Emmy nominated performance like Kristen’s,” Shepard, 51 captioned the upload. “This may or may not have been a part of her training, but it felt right. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!” he concluded. Community Guidelines Welcome to the Page Six Community! Our community is about connecting people through open and thoughtful conversations.
