Kovur sugar factory workers to receive ₹22 crore in pending wages after 11 years

The State government recently sanctioned the amount and issued an order to this effect.Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy expressed happiness at the new development and thanked the State government for its gesture. At the party office in Nellore, Ms. Prashanthi Reddy, along with the beneficiaries, performed ‘Palabhishekam’ on the portrait of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu as a sign of gratitude on Sunday.Addressing a press conference later, the MLA showed copies of the order issued by the government and said it reiterated the government’s resolve to solve the long-term problems. “For 11 years, the workers were waiting for their dues. I was moved by their concerns when I was named the MLA candidate for Kovur ahead of the elections. I had promised them a solution upon coming to power, which has become a reality today,” she said.She also recalled the efforts taken by her husband and Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy not only to take the issue to its logical end but also to contribute in the development of IFFCO Kisan SEZ by consulting Minister for Industries T.G. Bharath Gupta and District Collector Himanshu Shukla several times.The MLA also said that there would be some good news for the local youth, hinting that the government would soon decide the future of the defunct sugar factory.
