Kit told he could die in Coronation Street as he gets cancer update

Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) headed to another appointment with his doctor in Coronation Street today, following the news he has cancer. After the death of a relative, Kit, Bernie Winter-Alahan (Jane Hazlegrove) and Gemma Winter-Brown (Dolly-Rose Campbell) discovered that the family has history of carrying a BRCA (Breast Cancer) gene mutation. It increased the possibility that Kit, Bernie and Gemma had inherited a harmful change in the BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene, significantly raising the risk of developing certain cancers. Gemma and Bernie immediately set about getting tests done, with both women particularly keen on knowing the results for the benefit of their children. We discovered that he had been attending hospital appointments after noticing a lump in his breast and discharge. Last week, Kit was told that he has stage three breast cancer. Kit discovered that he would need further tests to determine the best course of treatment, but he would more than likely have a mastectomy. In today’s episode, Kit had another appointment with the consultant at the hospital, who urged him to tell more of his friends and family about what he’s going through. The doctor explained that they will begin chemotherapy as soon as possible to try and shrink the tumour, then Kit will have a mastectomy, then a biopsy. Doctors and nurses are planning on doing a lot to help Kit, but he wasn’t feeling very hopeful. The consultant told him that while there’s a chance he could die, things are in his favour right now, because the cancer was caught early. Back in Weatherfield, Kit knew that telling his mum and sister would be best for him moving forward, but he just couldn’t bring himself to do so.
