Kit gets the shock of his life in Coronation Street as he discovers Bethany is pregnant

Didn’t see this coming, did he? (Picture: Danielle Baguley/ITV) Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) is going through a hell of a lot in Coronation Street right now. Although his battle with stage three breast cancer is now out in the open, the gruelling course of chemotherapy he’s undergoing is taking a toll on him, as is the re-emergence of his ex, Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien). Sarah broke up with Kit after being arrested for the murder of Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), as she stared down a life sentence, unwilling to let Kit sacrifice his career by staying with her. Kit was left reeling and ended up in the arms of potentially the worst person he could’ve sought comfort in: Sarah’s daughter, Bethany (Lucy Fallon). Bethany fell pregnant as a result of their bunk up, something Kit is blissfully unaware of. Until next week, anyway… Kit is told to take sick leave this week (Picture: Danielle Baguley/ITV) With Sarah set free, she immediately set to work trying to rekindle her connection with Kit. Her plan was scuppered, though, by Kit’s admission that he slept with someone else while she was banged up, and Bethany’s attempt to convince her that it was Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown) brought her attempts to a halt. Luckily, she had Bethany’s surprise pregnancy to keep her busy, having absolutely no idea that the baby is Kit’s of course, with Bethany leading her to believe the dad is Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott), who she’s tentatively dating. Kit meanwhile has been struggling with adjusting to life with cancer, his over-protective mum, Bernie Winter-Alahan (Jane Hazlegrove), and the impact his diagnosis is having on his work, being forced to go on sick leave this week while at odds with all of his nearest and dearest. Later, she witnesses Kit suffer a collapse outside of the tram station and as she helps him home, he breaks down, leaving her shaken to see just how fragile – physically and emotionally – he’s become. Over at Speed Daal, Bethany bristles as Ryan assures her that nothing will change between them should she want to involve the baby’s dad in her pregnancy. Yeah, that’ll go well… Ryan steps in for Bethany… (Picture: Danielle Baguley/ITV) …before she bumps into her mum and Kit (Picture: Danielle Baguley/ITV) Sarah is insistent to Kit – he needs to get checked out at the hospital after his collapse and offers to go with him. At the hospital, they see Bethany and Ryan leaving the maternity department and both are shocked: Sarah for forgetting about her daughter’s scan, and Kit for discovering that Bethany is pregnant. As Sarah later pleads with Kit to move back in with her and reunite their ‘happy family’, he’s shaken to his core by what he’s learned.
