The 55-year-old media star shared a series of pictures of her in hospital on social media, including several of her leg in a cast following an operation after suffering a nasty fall during her annual trip to Cornwall to celebrate her birthday. In the caption, she wrote how Meadowgate, the location they visit, is ‘one of [her] favourite places on earth’ and they often picnic and swim at Welcombe Mouth before returning home for some cake. This time, however, she shared: ‘Unfortunately I slipped on a muddy patch on the steep path, and it took a whole host of people to get me to hospital.’ Explaining that her son Oscar, 15, ‘ran as fast as he could to get help’, eventually, the RNLI and Cornwall Air Ambulance arrived to ferry the fallen TV presenter to hospital where she was put on ‘a huge amount of painkillers’. After thanking the various people who took care of her along the way, she continued: ‘God only knows what I was like to deal with high as a kite! Everyone at Barnstaple hospital has been amazing, kind & caring, so many lovely people doing their absolute best. ‘They have operated on the leg and I’ll be home soon. It’ll be a boot and crutches for a while but I feel very, very lucky that it was possible to reach me and get me to hospital so quickly, and I have a job that I can do on crutches.’ And quipped that it won’t be a birthday that she’ll forget in a hurry. The photos she shared also included her hooked up to a monitor, with a gash above her eyebrow, an X-ray of the injured leg with the bone snapped through and some shots of the sea towards the end. As encouraged in the post by Kirstie, if people would like to donate to RNLI and Cornwall Air Ambulance, they can do so by clicking on the respective organisations.
