As anyone who has grown up alongside Sora knows, Kingdom Hearts has been going on for quite some time now and has had a ton of different games spread across a somewhat overwhelming number of consoles. Luckily, Square Enix has made it pretty easy to get into the series with remastered collections featuring nearly every game. Unfortunately, not every Kingdom Hearts title was given the same amount of love in the remixes, with both ReCoded and 358/2 Days being reduced to cutscene compilations that cut out all of the gameplay. That’s not really a big deal for the disappointing ReCoded, but it’s something that has long bugged 358/2 fans and even caused one team to put together their own remake. Kingdom Hearts Fans Are Making Their Own 358/2 Days Remake That You Can Try Now It Beats Begging Square For A Proper Port Over the years, there have been a number of attempts to give Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days the treatment it deserves, including a Melon Mix remaster we highlighted some time ago. Well, as pointed out by Redditor Status_Entertainer49 on the Kingdom Hearts subreddit, there’s an impressive new project to add to the list. YouTuber O'Shinobi (known as DaRealLando123 on Github) recently shared a trailer for 358/2 Days Final Mix, a project that aims to recreate Roxas’ underrated adventure within Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix. The project has seemingly been in the works for quite some time, but the new trailer confirms a notable milestone. As the trailer reveals, 358/2 Days Final Mix has made enough progress that a demo for the fan project is now available for anyone wanting to try it out. The “Holo-Demo” features five missions from the 358/2 Days Final Mix remake project and, judging from the trailer, it looks remarkably faithful to the iconically blocky DS game. The trailer’s description notes that anyone hoping to play the demo “must LEGALLY” own a copy of Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix, so pirates beware. It’s not clear how much longer 358/2 Days Final Mix’s development has until it’s complete, but it’s nice to see a fan project making some actual progress. And hey, with Kingdom Hearts 4 taking so long, it looks like this is the closest thing we’ll get to an actual remake of 358/2 Days.
