See more Daily Mail on Google - save us as a Preferred Source Published: 09:55 EDT, 27 August 2026 | Updated: 10:06 EDT, 27 August 2026 The King was pictured going out for a drive during his holiday in Balmoral today, hours after his youngest son Prince Harry returned to begin a new life in Britain.Charles was photographed behind the wheel of a Range Rover with his flat cap on the dashboard as he drove through Braemar in Aberdeenshire near his estate.The 77-year-old monarch has been spending time at Balmoral since his arrival on Tuesday last week, and was seen attending a Sunday church service at Crathie Kirk.The King has been joined on the holiday by Queen Camilla, Prince William and Kate as well as their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.Other royals present include Princess Anne and Sir Tim Laurence as well as Prince Edward and Sophie and their children Lady Louise and James, Earl of Wessex.Zara and Mike Tindall have also been spotted at the 50,000-acre Highland estate with their children along with Peter Phillips and his new wife Harriet Sperling.The royals were at Balmoral when news broke publicly on Wednesday last week that the Sussexes were returning. Charles had been told three days earlier on the Sunday.Yesterday, the Sussexes arrived back in the UK with their children after six years in the US following 'Megxit' in 2020, landing at Birmingham Airport around noon. Their children have both been enrolled in UK schools in or around the Cotswolds and are ready to start next week.It comes a month after the couple took Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, to see their grandfather the King for the first time in four years at his Highgrove home.Sussex-friendly People magazine suggested yesterday that the monarch wanted to see his sons Harry and the Prince of Wales 'together over time'.Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at a David Foster Foundation event in Canada on August 7The brothers no longer speak, falling out around the time of Harry and Meghan's 2018 wedding, with the relationship worsening following Harry's accusations on TV and in his memoir Spare.Also yesterday, Buckingham Palace announced that the King and Queen are to carry out an overseas tour to Antigua and Barbuda in the autumn, with Charles also undertaking a solo trip the Bahamas and a solo state visit to Guyana.Charles, who is still being treated for cancer, will embark on the nine-day official trip from October 27 until November 4.He will travel first to the Bahamas, where he is also head of state, without Camilla, and then on to Guyana for a state visit to mark 60 years of bilateral relations between the UK and the South American country.Charles and Camilla's trip to Antigua and Barbuda will coincide with the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2026 which is being hosted in the Caribbean nation from November 1 to 4.
