Kim Kardashian awarded 86p damages from Paris raid gang decade on from terrifying gunpoint £7.5m jewellery robbery

KIM Kardashian has been awarded 86p by a Paris court after being robbed of £7.5million in jewellery in the French capital a decade ago. Kim, 45, had been staying at the five-star Hôtel de Pourtalès on October 2, 2016 when armed robbers stormed her suite and bound her with zip ties. Two of the gang, dressed as cops, broke into Kim’s suite and tied her up, leaving the reality star terrified she would be raped or murdered. The robbers, dubbed the “Grandpa Robbers” due to their older ages, wore ski masks or were disguised as police during the brazen raid. At the time, it was France‘s largest robbery in 20 years. The hotel’s receptionist, who said he had been traumatised by the ordeal, sought €500,000 (£430k) in damages, and was awarded about €110,000 (£94k), his lawyer, Mohand Ouidja, said. Kim had sought a symbolic amount of €1 (86p) over the heist in a civil damages case after the thieves were convicted last May, he added. In a joint statement with her stylist Simone Harouche, who was present at the robbery, Kim expressed gratitude for the French justice system. But she added that doing so did not take away the trauma of the events. He was jailed for three years, and seven others were convicted for crimes linked to the heist. None of them went to prison, having already served their time in pretrial detention. Kim said: “The crime was the most terrifying experience of my life, leaving a lasting impact on me and my family. “While I’ll never forget what happened, I believe in the power of growth and accountability and pray for healing for all. “I remain committed to advocating for justice and promoting a fair legal system.” Comment now
