Kia Sorento to launch in India tomorrow: Price, features, design and more

Kia is set to expand its premium SUV line-up in India with the Sorento, which will debut tomorrow with a strong-hybrid powertrain, three-row seating and a long list of features.Kia India is all set to launch the Sorento in India on September 4, 2026. The three-row SUV will become the brand’s flagship model in the country and introduce Kia’s strong-hybrid powertrain technology to the Indian market. Local production has already commenced at Kia’s Anantapur facility, while bookings are currently open.Design and cabin featuresThe Sorento adopts Kia’s latest SUV design language, with an upright profile, bold front end and distinctive lighting elements. The India-spec model is expected to offer six- and seven-seat configurations.Inside, highlights are likely to include a pair of 12.3-inch displays, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, wireless charging, ambient lighting and a Bose audio system.Hybrid and diesel powertrainsKia will offer the Sorento with hybrid and diesel engine options. The hybrid is expected to feature a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with an electric motor, producing around 240bhp and 380Nm. It will get a six-speed automatic gearbox and AWD as standard. The diesel version is expected to use a 2.2-litre engine developing around 202bhp and 441Nm, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.Kia’s new AI assistantA major technology highlight will be Kia AI Assistant, powered by Live Generative AI. The system is designed to enable more natural conversations and provide access to real-time information. Safety equipment is expected to include Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, multiple airbags, hill-descent control and an electronic parking brake with auto hold.Kia Sorento: Expected price and rivalsThe Sorento is expected to be priced at around Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom).
