Kia Carens Clavis EV long term review | 3,600km report

The Kia Carens Clavis EV continues to impress in city driving, with good efficiency and practical range. After 3,600km, our long-term test focuses on extracting maximum range.Kia Carens Clavis EV long term reviewNew Delhi,Sep 30, 2026 14:03 ISTModel: Kia Carens Clavis EV HTX+ ERTest Started: April 2026/ 8,444kmTenure/Target mileage 3 months/5,000kmMileage This Month: 947kmEfficiency this month: 7.7km/kWhWhile we had faced some challenges with charging infrastructure on the highways, the Carens Clavis EV works fantastically for city commutes. I have seen an average 8.2km/kWh efficiency on the IP after short commutes to and from the office in near rush hour traffic. With an over 50kWh battery pack this translates to a range of well over 400km – what more could one ask for?The advantages of the Clavis are all there in the electric version as well and I think I do not need to go into some of the high points in detail like the fantastic space management for a 7-seater in not a very large car, the usable third row of seats, the blinds on the windows of the second row, the ventilated front seats and the overall premium look, fit and finish of the vehicle from the inside. The focus since the car has been with us has been on extracting the very best efficiency from the powertrain and seeing what the highest practical range for city driving may be. The lowest consumption that I have seen thus far has been on a drive from Gurugram to Noida, slightly late at night when there has been heavy traffic on the roads but no jams as such. In such a situation I have seen 8.2km/kWh on the car display. This is the highest I have seen thus far on a normal city drive of upwards of 8km ie my minimum home-office run. This time around I intend to see how much I can drive around the city before putting the car on charge – so watch out for another interesting report coming next month.Specifications Powertrain: Permanent magnet synchronous motorPower: 171bhpTorque: 255NmBattery capacity: 51.4kWhElectric range: 490km (MIDC)Ex-showroom price: 24.53 lakhSubscribe to Auto Today Magazine - Ends
