Ketan tattooed Siya's name as birthday surprise: Lohagad murder case chargesheet

A tattoo of his fiance Siya Goyal’s name, inked just below his neck as a birthday surprise for her, has emerged as one of the latest emotional details in the Ketan Agarwal murder case that took place on June 18 at Pune’s Lohagad fort. The detail has emerged as part of the latest revelations made in the 5,053-page chargesheet filed by the police.Ketan’s father, Vishal Agarwal, said his son had planned the gesture for Siya while the family was preparing for her birthday and their upcoming wedding. The chargesheet filed by Pune Rural Police alleges that Siya and her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary planned Ketan’s killing at Lohagad Fort.Recalling the period before Ketan’s death, Vishal said the family had been looking forward to Siya’s birthday and the wedding and had no indication that anything was wrong.He said the family had welcomed Siya as a future member and had made extensive preparations for the engagement. "When we went shopping for her engagement, we bought 28 dresses of her choice and 15 sets of gold jewellery for her," Vishal Agarwal told the media.He said Ketan had planned a special birthday celebration for Siya in Mahabaleshwar on June 19. As part of the celebrations, Ketan had also got Siya’s name tattooed on his neck as a gift. A video showing Ketan getting the tattoo done has also surfaced, according to the information provided by the family.Vishal said neither Ketan nor the family suspected that Siya’s relationship with him was allegedly not what it appeared to be. The family was instead making preparations for the wedding and had reportedly purchased gifts according to Siya’s preferences.The chargesheet, meanwhile, presents a sharply different picture of the relationship and alleges a series of steps leading to Ketan’s death.KEY DETAILS IN POLICE CHARGESHEETPolice claim Siya and Chetan, along with another accused, Ritesh Hange, studied previous murder cases, searched online for information connected with deaths at hill locations and examined ways of avoiding detection.Investigators have alleged that online searches included details about the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi in Meghalaya, an earlier death at Lohagad and methods of deleting call and chat histories.Police have also said searches were made regarding mushrooms and possible poisoning through food. The precise relevance of some of these searches will have to be established through evidence during the trial.According to the chargesheet, Lohagad was eventually selected as the alleged murder site. Police claim the accused conducted reconnaissance of the location, photographed possible spots and used a fake Instagram account to lure Ketan to the fort on June 18 under the pretext of a birthday-related plan.Investigators allege that Siya and Chetan then pushed Ketan towards the precipice, causing his fatal fall.The chargesheet relies on witness statements, mobile phone data, chats, call records, photographs, CCTV footage and other technical evidence. Police have also identified witnesses who allegedly saw the incident.With the chargesheet now before the Vadgaon Maval court, the case is set to move into the next stage of proceedings.The court will examine the material placed by the prosecution before deciding the charges to be framed.
