Kerala MVD officer transferred after penalising police vehicle in Wadakkanchery

Biju, who had issued a fine to a Wadakkanchery police vehicle for alleged violations of motor vehicle rules, has been transferred to the Regional Transport Office (RTO) at Ayyanthole in Thrissur, Kerala.The transfer order directs that he should not be assigned enforcement duties until further orders.Mr. Biju had recently come under the spotlight after imposing a ₹4,000 fine on the police vehicle during a roadside inspection, citing the absence of valid insurance and pollution under control (PUC) records.The incident triggered widespread discussion on social media and led to the registration of a criminal case against the officer. The police charged him under a non-bailable provision, alleging that his action had obstructed police personnel in the discharge of their official duties and tarnished the image of the police force.Although police personnel claimed that the vehicle had valid insurance, the details were not available on the Parivahan portal at the time of inspection.After the insurance documents were produced the following day, the original penalty was revised. A fresh fine of ₹500 was imposed for failing to carry the insurance document and the pollution under control certificate in the vehicle during the inspection.Responding to questions from reporters, Transport Minister C.P.
